We went over to East Tennessee, Flag Pond to be exact, in July. Being from Tennessee and going to East Tennessee at least a few times a year growing up, I was so happy to return to the mountains and beautiful creeks and foliage this summer. Our plan was to kayak the Nolichucky a few times over the 3 days we were there. The first day we went down and my husband, who had recently broken his leg, decided to kayak despite his leg not being quite healed. He turned over and couldn’t roll back due to his leg, so Ethan and I went on a search and rescue for his kayak. Then I just turned over myself in almost flat water! I had to wet eject because I don’t yet have a roll, so basically we got chucked on the Nolichucky.
